CHRISTMAS came early to the patients of St Vincent's Private Hospital yesterday, with the grade four students at Mater Dei Primary School spreading the season's message through song.

The students' trip to St Vincent's is an annual occurrence, and one that was enjoyed by students and patients alike.

"Our aim was to make it so (the patients) didn't feel as unhappy because they were in hospital during the Christmas period and we might be able to bring joy to their time here," choir member Olivia Nason explained.

Split into two groups, the students' merry voices could be heard up and down the halls of the hospital as they moved from ward to ward.

Ruby Surawski said the best part was seeing how happy people were to listen.

"It's probably made their day... because it's spreading the Christmas spirit, and everyone likes Christmas," she said.

Students sang classic carols like Rocking around the Christmas Tree, Silent Night, We Wish You a Merry Christmas, and more.

Zia Foster said the choir had been practising hard for the occasion.
