THE daughter of the woman killed in a horror crash in the Southern Downs has remembered her mother as a "giving" woman who cared about her community.

Logan woman Michelle Carroll, 46, was driving along the New England Highway at Glen Aplin, south of Stanthorpe, on Saturday with two other women when her car hit a tree.

She died at the scene.

Her 19-year-old daughter Erin, who now has to look after her two young siblings, said her mother was well-known in the Logan community as a caring person who would open her home to those who needed help.

"She was just a giving person, a very well-known person in the community," she said.

"She was the best mother I could ask for. She taught me everything. She was my whole world.

"She just wanted to help everybody, and that's what caused her demise."

Ms Carroll was driving an at-risk teenager back from northern NSW to Logan when the crash occurred.

The two passengers were pulled from the vehicle and taken to Stanthorpe Hospital before being transported by LifeFlight helicopter to Brisbane.

A dog was also in the car but survived the crash.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the incident.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help Ms Carroll and her fiancee pay for the funeral and support her siblings. To donate, head to the website.
