TWO teenagers were seriously injured when their overloaded utility crashed into a truck at Hatton Vale.
The Ford utility was travelling on the Warrego Hwy when it turned at the intersection of Niemeyer Rd.
The ute crossed the path of a B-double travelling east-bound and the vehicles collided at 8.30pm on Saturday.
Police said the B-double truck then rolled on to its side, across all four lanes of the highway.
A second B-double travelling east-bound collided with the rear trailer of the crashed truck.
A total of seven people - four teenagers in the utility, a husband and wife in the first truck and a man in the second truck - were injured and taken to hospital.
Queensland Ambulance Service regional operations supervisor Stephen Johns said a 19-year-old man was ejected from the utility and sustained head and chest injuries.
He was flown to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane in a serious condition.
A 17-year-old woman was trapped in the utility and had to be freed by firefighters using hydraulic cutting gear.
She sustained suspected neck and spinal injuries and was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious condition.
"They were all incredibly lucky," Mr Johns said.
"It was very lucky there was not a fatality or more serious injuries."
The highway was closed for a number of hours.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
