Bonded by blood and business, two brothers have spiced up the streets of Toowoomba, after opening a new restaurant.
Sonny and Harry Singh have been whipping up creations in the kitchen since they were just children.
First opening the Masala Hut in Chinchilla in 2011, followed by another branch in Brisbane, Sonny’s Indian restaurant has grown in popularity.
Now together with his brother Harry, the pair have set their sights on the garden city, opening their new restaurant last Friday.
“I have loved cooking since I was a little boy and it’s become my biggest passion,” Sonny said.
“A lot of our customers from Chinchilla moved to Toowoomba and asked us to open a restaurant here … many of them have already visited us.”
Sonny said the menu features a range of favourites from the classic butter chicken and sweet version of Tikka Masala, to vegetarian dishes too.
With the intention to cater to all tastes, Sonny said while the dishes featured hints of spice, it was not too overpowering.
Combining modern and rustic chic styles, the restaurant features black and white marble tiles and chandeliers, paired with colourful timber feature walls.
The renovation took approximately two months to complete and the site was formerly home to the Cioccolato dessert cafe.
To celebrate the launch of the new business, the brothers are offering customers 10% off meals for the next two weeks.
The Masala Hut is at Shop 2, 198-200 Margaret St.
It is open seven days a week for lunch from 11am to 2.30pm and dinner from 4pm to 9pm.
