THE Toowoomba Regional Council will consider plans to build a rural fire brigade facility south-west of the city.
Applicant Slalom Investments submitted a proposal this week to build a 12m-long rural shed on vacant land on Homestead Rd at Felton.
According to the planning report by Project BA's Luke Neller, the new shed would be used by the Felton Rural Fire brigade.
"The application seeks to establish a 'emergency services' use on the currently vacant lease land," the report said.
"The emergency services building will be occupied by the Felton rural fire brigade which will use the building for the storage of equipment, communications, and periodic meetings and training.
"The proposal is code assessable development under the Toowoomba Planning Scheme and can be demonstrated to comply with the performance requirements of the relevant codes through performance solutions or achieving the prescribed acceptable solutions.
"The proposed use will benefit the local community and provide additional community safety (and) is suitably located, with sufficient space to accommodate the proposal and access to necessary services."
Southern Cross Sheds, which was listed technically as the applicant, also provided plans for the shed.
The council has yet to ask for further information.
