THE Toowoomba United RSL Sub Branch has closed its office in the Toowoomba Soldiers Memorial Hall indefinitely.

In a post to social media, the Sub Branch said the direction to close was made by president Roland Thompson in response to the COVID-19 outbreak.

"Needless to say this also means the suspension of social activities until further notice," the post said.

"This is being done not only to protect our members who visit and/or participate in social activities at the Soldiers Memorial Hall, but visitors from the community who also access the hall and, very importantly, to safeguard the wellbeing of our volunteers who man the office and assist with activities like our bingo and Friday evening social.

"We must abide by Government regulations and public opinion."

Sub branch members will be notified when the office reopens and social activities recommence.

In the meantime, secretary/admin manager, Wendy Holt will be working from home and have access to Sub Branch emails.

All calls to the Sub Branch office on 4632 3506 have been diverted to Mrs Holt's mobile and will continue to be answered Monday to Friday between 9am-noon.
