THE second passenger airline to commit to flights at Wellcamp Airport will visit the new airport today.

Regional Express Airlines will be at the airport to conduct a test flight and a logistical mission.

The airline is planning to start its regular passenger services from the airport on the first day of next year.

REX is currently on a tour to visit various ports, including Wellcamp, on their new routes over the next six days.

On board will be key operational staff, including pilots, who will be ensuring procedures and processes are correct in the lead-up to the first flight next year.

The airline will also be delivering equipment to help service the flights when they start.

REX will operate four services a week across two routes including Western Route 1, which covers Brisbane to Toowoomba to St George to Cunnamulla to Thargomindah and return.

The second service called Route 2, will feature flights from Brisbane to Toowoomba to Charleville to Quilpie to Windorah to Birdsville to Bedourie to Boulia to Mount Isa and return.

In other news Wagners chairman John Wagner has poured cold water on an Australian Financial Review story that claimed a stake in the business would be sold to an investor.

The story, published online, included claims that the airport "may sell a stake to an outside investor once it becomes more profitable".

But Mr Wagner said that selling a stake was "not even on the horizon".

"We're not selling the airport," he said.
