FIVE Darling Downs and Lockyer Valley schools could be in line for state honours after they won regional awards for excellence in teaching.
Darling Heights State School won an award for inclusive education for its migrant and refugee students English program.
It caters to students from more than 40 countries, speaking more than 30 languages.
Laidley District State School was awarded for its Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander program, connecting students with local elders.
The Lockyer District State High School, Lake Clarendon State School and Gatton State School won a combined award for a STEM program that ran across multiple campuses.
Hatton Vale State School received an award for its reading program and Cunnamulla P-12 State School was awarded for its rural and remote learning program
The schools have a chance to make the finals of the Queensland Showcase Awards for Excellence in Schools.
They will be judged against finalists from six other Queensland Department of Education regions.
The top two entrants in each category will progress to the finals, announced on July 29.
