Rescue chopper tasked after person left in serious condition

A man has suffered serious injuries after reportedly becoming trapped under a flipped boat at Laidley Heights.
The accident happened at Lockyer Powerfest – a large power boat racing competition.
A spokeswoman from the Queensland Ambulance Service said crews arrived on scene after receiving reports a boat flipped, leaving a man submerged under water.
The spokeswoman said no specific injuries had been recorded but confirmed the man was in a serious but stable condition when paramedics from QAS arrived at the scene.
Crews from RACQ LifeFlight Rescue landed at Lake Dyer off Gatton Laidley Road East on Saturday at 1.12pm.
The patient was transported to the rescue chopper and flown to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane.
According to its website, the Lockyer Powerfest is run by the Gold Coast Power Boat and Sports Club and the event has been held at Lake Dyer since 2011.
