TOOWOOMBA'S Jason "Tui" Tuira has been remembered as a "beautiful man with a big warm smile" after his sudden passing from a medical episode on Tuesday.
The father of four was a well-loved member of CrossFit Highfields, where he had trained for a number of years.
"It's such a sad thing to lose someone so suddenly - he was a big, gentle giant who loved his family," CrossFit Highfields owner and coach Shaun Collins said.
"He was a big part of the gym and everyone knew him and loved him.
"My favourite memory of Tui was how he would always come to the workouts with three bottles of water, one to drink and two to pour over his head mid-workout."
The gym is now holding a training session in his memory.
"Everyone is devastated and has come together to see what they can do to help," Mr Collins said.
"We always train and we train hard. If a person is to pass away that's our way to remember them, have a workout together then have a drink and BBQ afterwards."
The work out will be held at CrossFit Highfields this Saturday starting from 7am.
