A TOOWOOMBA woman has captured the moment a lightning bolt struck her home metres from her, as a line of heavy storms rolled through the city last night.
Sarah O'Mahoney, who lives on Echo Valley Rd, in Preston, had walked out on to her veranda to film a clip of the impending storm for her husband who was away from the house.
Just as she set foot onto the covered area, a lightning bolt hit the side of the house, causing her to run for cover.
The video, uploaded last night, received more than 400 comments in a matter of hours.
Elsewhere in the Darling Downs, the rain flowed with the thunderstorms.
Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Rosa Hoff said Withcott received the most rain, with 38mm recorded.
"We had a few good lines (of storms) but it was a bit patchy," Ms Hoff said.
"Withcott recorded the most and around town we saw 3-15mm.
She said there was a chance of a repeat tonight and again later this week.
"There is a chance of storms tonight and we could see a bit of rainfall," Ms Hoff said.
"Where the rain falls depends on the locations of the storms and it's hard to say if we will get the same amounts.
"There is also a chance tomorrow and it is picking up for Friday too."
She said the stormy weather was the result of a trough, causing preceding instability as it moved across the state.
