Man in his 20s treated for significant burns from backyard fire in Cooroy

A man has been hospitalised after suffering significant burns following a backyard fire incident on a Noosa hinterland property.

A man has been hospitalised after suffering significant burns following a backyard fire incident on a Noosa hinterland property.

According to the Queensland Ambulance Service a man in his 20s suffered significant burns to his hand at a backyard fire in Cooroy just before 1am Sunday.

The man was taken to Nambour Hospital in a stable condition.

In a separate incident overnight, another person was hospitalised following a single-car crash into a tree on Beerburrum Woodford Rd, Beerburrum just after 12am.

The person was taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

Motorcyclist critical after HiLux head-on near Noosa

On Saturday morning a motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries in a horror head-on crash with a ute on a rural road near Noosa.

A police spokeswoman said the crash involving a Toyota HiLux and a motorbike happened on the rural and largely dirt road, Kinmond Creek Rd, at Cootharaba about 6.50am on Saturday.

According to the Queensland Ambulance Service, the rider, aged in his 50s, suffered serious abdominal, pelvic and right leg injuries.

He was flown to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

A QAS spokeswoman said the crash appeared to have been a head-on collision and the driver of the ute was uninjured.

The road was reopened around 9.50am.
