Beloved Brighton pets Luka and Sonny still missing as search widens to Darling Downs region

Two adored furry friends have been missing for more than a month, in a wild saga featuring a mammoth reward and pet detectives, with the search widening to our region.

The owner of two dogs stolen from a property in Brisbane says she has reason to believe the animals are in the Southern Downs region.

It’s a story straight out of a crime caper, with pet detectives and a huge reward, but for one Queensland woman, the loss of her two dogs is much deeper.

Tori Hornsveld’s two dogs, Luka and Sonny, have been missing since they disappeared from her Brighton home on the morning of Mother’s Day of this year.

Ms Hornsveld believes they have been kidnapped.

It’s been a wild ride since Mother’s Day, with Ms Hornsveld posting a $10,000 reward for the dogs, and even hiring a pet detective, to no avail.

Less than a year ago, Ms Hornsveld’s dog Koby was found dead dumped in the ocean, a short distance away from her Brighton address.

Ms Hornsveld will allege a man in his 40s was captured on CCTV stealing the dogs. Now, she claims she has reason to believe the dogs are in the Southern Downs area.

The distraught pet owner said on Thursday she had reason to believe the animals were in the Warwick area.

A resident of the street where the dogs were last seen told News Corp the posters for the missing animals could be seen “everywhere” in the streets of Brighton and surrounding suburbs.

“It’s really sad that someone would take someone else’s dog. It has me worried about everyone else locally who has pets,” the resident said.

It’s understood police are currently investigating the incident.

Locals with any information or who have sighted the dogs are urged to contact Ms Hornsveld on Facebook, or local police.

Updates to come.
