Young teens among four charged with string of property crime offences across SEQ

Four people have been charged in relation to a string of alleged burglaries between the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast. The Brisbane arrest saw a firearm, drugs and keys to high-end cars seized.

Four charged over string of burglaries in SEQ

Four people, including two young teenagers, have been charged in relation to a string of property crime offences between the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast, including Rochedale and Logan.

The arrests - of a 21-year-old Woodridge man, a 20-year-old Morayfield woman, a 14-year-old Durack boy and a 13-year-old Durack boy - come after an investigation centre was established earlier this month, in which 34 stolen cars were recovered.

At 10.40pm Saturday night police attended an address in Windsor, in Brisbane’s inner-north, where the 21-year-old man and 20-year-old woman were taken into custody.

A crime scene was declared and during the search methylamphetamine, a firearm, GHB, ammunition, drug utensils, a stolen vehicle, stolen jewellery, four sets of high-end vehicle keys, three mobile phones and approximately $5,000 in cash were seized, police said.

It is alleged the 21-year-old man is linked to offences across southeast Queensland since December 2024.

He has been charged with 34 offences, with investigations ongoing into a number of other alleged property crime incidents.

His charges include nine counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, four counts of enter dwelling and commit, two counts each of enter premise and commit indictable offence by break, unlawful interference with supply of electricity to customer and attempted enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence and one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle (use to damage property), unlawful use of a motor vehicle (use for indictable offence in company), unlawful use of a motor vehicle (in company), armed robbery in company, robbery in company, damaging emergency vehicle when operating a motor vehicle, driving without a licence (disqualified), driver fail to remain at incident, common assault, enter dwelling with intent by break at night, attempted enter dwelling with intent at night while armed in company, possessing dangerous drugs and possessing drug utensils.

He was refused bail and is expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday February 24.

The 20-year-old Morayfield woman has been charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count each of stealing, wilful damage, receiving tainted property and enter dwelling and commit.

She has also been refused bail and is expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday February 24.

Meanwhile, a second search warrant was conducted on Saturday at a Durack address where a 14-year-old boy was taken into custody.

He has been charged with five counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, three counts of enter premise with intent, two counts each of stealing and attempted burglary while armed and one count each of armed robbery in company, serious assault, wilful damage and burglary.

Police refused bail and he is expected to appear before Brisbane Children’s Court on Monday February 24.

The same day a 13-year-old Durack boy was arrested at Browns Plains, where he was later charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, burglary, wilful damage, stealing and trespass.

He appeared before Brisbane Children’s Court on Saturday February 22, where police opposed bail.

Brisbane Region Acting Assistant Commissioner Rhys Wildman said police were committed to tactical efforts to disrupt crime that was causing harm to the community.

“I want to reassure the victims of crime who have been impacted by this offending, that police will not stop until each offender is off the streets.

“This result is the culmination of extensive police efforts and I applaud the officers involved.

“Police will be relentless in efforts to disrupt, prevent and investigate property crime to help keep all of our communities safe.”

Investigations remain ongoing and police have asked anyone with information or relevant footage to come forward.
