Wild vision has emerged of a woman holding a baby attempting to break up a fight between two other women on the streets of Mt Isa.

It comes as another fight in the outback Queensland city is caught on camera, this one also involving two young women.

The incidents add to growing community concern over escalating violence on the city’s streets.

The latest footage captures two women pulling hair and throwing wild punches in broad daylight as another woman steps in while holding a young baby and filming on her phone.

An onlooker can be heard saying “there’s a baby caught in it” before pleading with the woman to “move the baby”.

After the women are separated, one woman can be heard yelling: “Why did you pull my hair?”

In the other fight, two women are seen punching each other as a group of onlookers stand by and watch on.

A woman, who appears to be filming the video, can be heard laughing, before saying “Hurry up, come on, both wanna (sic) smash each other, hurry the f**k up”.

These latest fights added to a growing list of violent incidents on the streets of Mt Isa in the past month.

On May 9 a wild brawl involving a group of 30 adults took place near Mount Isa Hospital, resulting in four women being charged with public nuisance as a result.

A week later, footage uploaded to social media showed multiple people stomping on and punching a person on Abel Smith Parade at Mount Isa around 2am.

Queensland Police data shows the number of crimes committed in Mount Isa has almost doubled in the past decade.

According to Queensland Police statistics, 13,731 offences were committed in Mount Isa in 2024 compared to 8160 in 2014, with the region’s crime growing at a faster rate than its population.

Police have not charged anyone over the latest fights.
