Whitsunday man accused of making child abuse material has court case delayed
A man in his 60s charged with making and possessing child exploitation material has had his court case delayed again while he awaits legal aid approval.
A Whitsundays man facing multiple disturbing charges after allegedly being caught with vile child abuse content has had his matters delayed again.
The man in his 60s appeared in Proserpine Magistrates Court charged with two counts of making child exploitation material, two counts of using a carriage service to access child abuse material and possessing child exploitation material.
He is alleged to have committed the offences between December 2024 and May 2025.
Rosemary Varley appeared as duty lawyer on behalf of the man, telling the court he had submitted a legal aid application.
She said she spoke with legal aid officers and confirmed the man had recently sent updated bank details to the grants team.
A follow-up email was sent to the grants team to action the application at the earliest opportunity due to the serious nature of charges and the length of time the matters have been before the court, she said.
She asked that the matter be adjourned to January 5.
