Police are investigating a series of destructive business break ins across Bowen early on Christmas Eve.
Officers are calling for public help after a vehicle allegedly involved has been spotted heading north.
It started about 4am December 24 when a silver hatchback with no registration plates (pictured) parked in front of a Williams St grocery store and three people from the vehicle smashed their way inside the store, a QPS statement revealed.
However they left empty handed after staff interrupted them.
Soon after the same vehicle was spotted parked outside a liquor store at the corner of Williams and Gregory Sts.
This time two people smashed through the front door but did not take anything.
Police arrived at the site and attempted to stop the vehicle as it left but were unsuccessful.
At 4.10am the vehicle stopped at a Leichhardt St service station where offenders again smashed the door and stole money from a cash register behind the counter.
The vehicle then travelled north on the Bruce Highway, stopping at a Merinda service station, where the offenders smashed the door and stole a small safe from inside the business.
Police have since seized the safe with help from members of the public.
The vehicle was last seen travelling north towards Ayr and officers are calling for anyone with information, dash cam footage or who see the vehicle to call police.
