A young woman fell to the ground, smashing her head on the pavement after she was punched her in the face at an Airlie Beach restaurant. Now police are appealing for witnesses to help identify her attacker.

A young woman was punched in the face at an Airlie Beach restaurant, falling to the ground and smashing her head on the pavement.

A police spokesman said the 28-year-old woman was on Shute Harbour Rd shortly before 4am Sunday when a man hit her face.

It is understood the incident happened at the Airlie Beach McDonald’s.

Police are appealing for information to find the man who is described as having a proportionate build, tanned complexion and short black hair.

He was wearing black jeans and a short sleeve button-up shirt.

Anyone who may have seen the incident is urged to phone police.
