Plane makes emergency landing in Flametree airport after smoke detected

A light aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing in the Whitsundays, narrowly avoiding any injuries.

A passenger aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing land after smoke was detected from inside it.

The Queensland Fire Department Emergency crew was called at 3.20pm to the Flametree landing strip in the Whitsundays.

It is unclear how many passengers were on board but a QFD spokesman confirmed the plane safely landed on the tarmac.

No one was reported injured.
