A man caught drug driving has told a court it would not happen again, despite the response from the magistrate that it was already the second time.

Mauro Nicholas Nobile, an Argentinian national, was caught with MDMA and marijuana in his system while driving on Cathy O’Connell River Rd near Yalboroo on September 18.

Nobile, who works in hospitality, pleaded guilty to the charge in front of Proserpine Magistrates Court and told Magistrate Michelle Howard it “won’t happen again”.

Ms Howard told Nobile that it was already the second time he was caught.

He was fined $550 and his licence was disqualified for three months.

Cara Louise Buckley, 38

A woman who was caught driving had openly told police she had a cone of marijuana an hour before her arrest.

Cara Louise Buckley was arrested while at a truck stop on the Bruce Highway at 1:35pm on August 23.

She had marijuana and methamphetamine in her system.

Solicitor Cleo Rewald told the court Buckley had lost her employment as a chef after she lost her licence.

She was fined $300 and her licence was disqualified for one month.

An Airlie Beach musician was caught driving while over twice the alcohol limit on Shute Harbour Rd in Cannonvale.

Samuel Moroni Sandelin-McCann was arrested by police after he had taken a left turn on a right-turn only road on September 12.

He was breath-tested and his blood alcohol concentration was 0.119.

Sandelin-McCann was granted a restricted licence for work purposes as he had no previous history recorded.

The conditions were that he keep a logbook and not carry any passengers.

He pleaded guilty to drink driving and to a charge of turning right at a left-turn only sign in front of Proserpine Magistrates Court.

He was fined $700 and his licence disqualified for four months.

Deborah Kay Cutting, 50

A Whitsundays bookkeeper was over two times the blood alcohol limit after police officers found her in a car on fire in a ditch.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Emma Myors told the court that police had initially attended the scene after they received a call from community members.

Deborah Kay Cutting had told police officers she went for a drive but got into a ditch, had tried to back out a couple of times and a fire broke out.

She had received help from some residents who helped her out of the car in Strathdickie on October 17.

Her blood alcohol concentration was 0.124 at the time of the incident.

Solicitor Lynda Hughes told the court Cutting had no previous history with drink driving but that she was more sensitive to alcohol since a surgery she had.

Ms Hughes also told the court Cutting’s car was destroyed as a result of the incident and she had lost some jewellery.

She was fined $600 and her licence was disqualified for three months.

Cara Jane Martin, 19

A 19-year-old girl was caught drink driving when police officers arrested her as her car had its headlights off.

Cara Jane Martin had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.094 when she drove her vehicle while on a provisional licence in Airlie Beach on October 15.

Ms Martin pleaded guilty to the charge in front of Proserpine Magistrates Court and told Ms Howard she understood “there could have been more fatal consequences” for her actions.

Ms Howard did not record the offence as she had no previous history.

She was fined $350 and her licence was disqualified for three months.
