Queenslanders are voting today on who they want their local mayor and councillors to be for the next four years, with just one week until the 2024 Local Government Election.

About 3.7 million Queenslanders are expected to cast their vote to determine the representatives of 77 local councils including 77 mayors and 501 councillors around the state.

Early voting has already closed, with the Queensland Electoral Commission predicting 40 per cent of votes would be collected ahead of March 16, with 30 per cent coming from early voters visiting polling booths over two weeks and another 15 per cent using the postal vote service.

You do not have to be vaccinated in order to cast your vote.
