BUSINESS is booming around Warwick right now, with two huge news stories breaking this week showing the momentum is building hard and fast.

Warwick businessman Graeme Collins announced his grand plans for the iconic Parmalat site, which he bought in late January. He has dubbed the site 'the Factory Precinct' and revealed he plans to transform it into a bustling retail, entertainment and heritage hub for the community.

We also got our first glimpse at a the huge new Darwalla hatchery at Allora, which opened on Monday. Already holding roughly 600,000 chicks per week, the massive business is already planning on expanding. The opening was not only significant from a business sense but also a family perspective, as the development manager David Bray was given the opportunity to follow in his father's footsteps in a special way.

Out on our roads the news was not so good this week, as a horrific crash on the New England Highway left four people injured. A witness recounted the terrifying moment he tried to rescue a driver trapped in his vehicle while a Southern Downs resident is calling for a review of road work signage in light of the crash.

A dramatic call was also made to the Southern Downs community. News broke that the Granite Belt Community Association is investigating de-amalgamation as members claim the council does not listen to the people of Stanthorpe. A rally has been organised to try and garner support for the contentious break up.

Just when everyone needed a reason to smile, we found out world famous ventriloquist David Strassman would be paying a visit to Warwick and bringing his unconventional humour with him.

Our hearts also melted when we found out a Warwick father who had a terrifying brush with death ended up saving his son's life because of the horrible ordeal. A kind gesture from his brother ahead of his potentially life-saving surgery was the icing on the cake, as he lined up two huge celebrities to wish his brother luck.
