A young woman had a terrifying experience over the weekend after she was allegedly attacked on a Stanthorpe street.
Southern Downs police have arrested a 30-year-old man over the alleged assault of a 20-year-old woman which is alleged to have occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Police will allege the 30-year-old Stanthorpe man approached the young woman who was walking along Folkestone St at around 1.20am.
The man is then alleged to have grabbed the woman and thrown her over a nearby fence and pinned her to the ground.
It’s further alleged the man then fled on foot, with the woman later taken to Stanthorpe Hospital for treatment.
Stanthorpe police arrested the 30-year-old on March 7 and have charged him with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm and deprivation of liberty.
The man has been refused police bail and is set to front Warwick Magistrates Court today.
