TROTTING: Trotting is set to become a permanent part of the Warwick Show and driver Noel Parrish will be back next year trying to win the Ray Bunch Machinery Cantor Cup for a second time.

Parrish, of Hatton Vale, was the driver and Kevin Annetts the trainer as Its You Not Me won a heat and then the final of the cup over 1609m on Friday night.

Its You Not Me is also a starter at Redcliffe at 5.34pm Sunday. The 11-year-old gelding has had almost 200 starts for 11 wins.

"I was happy to win the cup and will be back to defend it next year,” Parrish said.

"The Warwick track was pretty good, just soft in one spot. It was my first time at the Warwick Showgrounds and I will definitely come again.”

Two days after winning two heats and the final in Warwick, Parrish has five horses nominated for the Sunday trots at Redcliffe.

All his four starters from the Warwick Show are backing up at Redcliffe.

Its You Not Me will have to negotiate an extra 100m in his race at 5.34pm Sunday but Parrish doesn't expect that to be a problem.

Darling Downs Harness Racing Club president Anthony Collins expressed his gratitute to Warwick show chairman John Maher and his helpers for preparing a top track for the event and bringing back the trots after a break of 17 years.

"We will certainly want trots at next year's Warwick Show,'' he said.

While the harness racers often race on crusher dust tracks, the sand at the Warwick Showgrounds was given the thumbs up by drivers and the Darling Downs club.

The Darling Downs club will hold a meeting on the grass at the Warwick Turf Club track at Allman Park later this year.

The club also has harness racing at the 155th Toowoomba Show later this week.
