CRICKET: Cahal Davis and Nick Morris will get the chance of a lifetime in the cricket off-season after their selection as the two Wanderers tourists from Warwick.
The Warwick Cricket Association has arranged the two tour spots for the past decade.
The Wanderers touring party is a mix of retired cricketers like Test players Ian Healy and Geoff Dymoch, and past Australian coach John Buchanan along with some promising young players.
Long-time Queensland Country keeper Brad Murphy is a tour regular.
Each year, the tour heads to a separate part of Queensland or northern New South Wales.
Warwick Cricket Association president Dave Walker said early planning was for the Wanderers tour this year to visit Moonie, Mitchell, Charleville, St George, Goondiwindi and Warwick.
"Nick and Cahal have been selected for the dedication and effort they put in to the Warwick Davis Shield side and in club cricket,” he said.
"Cahal is a bowler who bats and Nick is a batsman who bowls.
"Both are fast and really good in the field.”
Walker said most of the tourists have come back to Warwick as improved players.
"Brad Murphy and Lance Roudenko were really helpful when I was selected as one of the Wanderers three years ago.
"Carter Bilbrough and I went on the same tour as planned this year except we went to Tara and Texas instead of Moonie and Goondiwindi which are on the tour program this year.”
Davis is an improving batsman who top scored in the Sovereign Animals one-run preliminary final victory a fortnight ago.
Nick Morris is one of four cricketing brothers from the Victoria Hill club. He hasn't bowled a lot this season but is keen to improve his bowling on the Wanderers tour.
In their last tour game, Wanderers will play a Warwick selection at Slade Park on Saturday, August 24.
