POLOCROSSE: Sixteen players from the Southern Downs have been selected in Queensland teams for the Barastoc Interstate Series at Morgan Park in late April.

While the first games in the Adina Polocrosse World Cup are on April 22, the Barastoc Interstate Series will start on April 23 and go for six days.

There are four Warwick players and one from Cunningham in the Carr Family Open Queensland teams.

Jordan McGrath and Tori Sherriff are in the open women's team, along with Kelsey Rowland from the Cunningham club.

Charles Holcombe and captain Russell Owens from the Warwick club are in an open men's team, which will be coached by Cunningham player Allan Waugh.

Four of the seven women in the intermediate team are from the Warwick club - Amelia Beck, Monique Hoare, Keely McGrath and Bree Thornton. The intermediate men's team from Queensland includes captain Anthony O'Leary from Cunningham and Warwick pair Callum Brook and Anthony Wells.

Cunningham official Robyn Cooper is manager of the Queensland junior girls' team, which includes Stacey Lamb and Ashleigh Sticklen from Cunningham and captain Bridget Shepherd from Warwick. Connar Feltham from Cunningham is the one Southern Downs player in the junior boys' team.

At the World Cups in Warwick in 2003 and 2007, club competitions were held in addition to the internationals but this time the interstate series has replaced the club competition as the support tournament.
