HARNESS RACING: The Weidemann family from Clifton has nominated nine horses for the Ray Bunch Machinery Harness Racing at the Warwick Show on Friday.
The first of three heats is at 5pm and the final will be at 7pm.
Lola Weidemann said her family had taken up to 18 pacers to harness racing meetings.
"We are in it to win,” Lola said.
"It depends on the handicaps but my neice Stacey Weidemann trains a mare Myanga Sportsgirl which goes well.”
Stacey will drive Myanga Sportsgirl in Warwick.
Lola and Stacey will drive a pacer in each heat. Dayl March will drive one horse in each heat for the Weidemanns.
"I train eight of the pacers and Stacey trains Myanga Sportsgirl,” Lola said.
Lola recalls racing at the Warwick Showgrounds soon after a flood in Warwick.
"Warwick Showgrounds was always a good track and we enjoyed some success at the show,” she said.
"My father was the first in the family to be involved in harness racing when he took pacers to tracks from the early 1970s. My sister Julie and I carried on the tradition and then our neice Stacey.”
Friday night will be the first time Stacey has raced at the Warwick Showgrounds.
The Weidemann family truck can carry 10 horses so only one bay will be free for the trip to Warwick.
