Quick action helps with fire burning on 800 metre front

UPDATE 1pm: Swift action by firefighters has contained a fire on a Pikedale Rd property.

A spokeswoman for the Queensland Fire and Emergency Service said four units were still on scene.

"They are working on some hot spots at present,” she said.

EARLIER: 11.15am: A GRASS fire is burning on an 800m front on Pikedale Rd, just off the New England Highway between Warwick and Stanthorpe.

The first fire call was received at 9.47am to a property two kilometres west of the New England Highway.

A spokeswoman for the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services said there were four fire units on scene.

"There are rural fire units from Dalveen and Massie and a four-wheel drive urban unit from Warwick and the water tanker from Warwick on scene,” she said.

"No buildings are under threat.”
