Police say slow down, concern over speeding numbers
TWO drivers are poorer after not sticking with speed limits in a small village on Southern Downs.

DON'T be afraid of a traffic infringement notice, just drive under the speed limit, that is the word from a Southern Downs police sergeant.
On Sunday, Sergeant Alan Baker, of Wallangarra police, was out on the highway from 7am and by lunchtime had booked five motorists.
"That is more than most weekends,” he said.
The highest speed was 124km/h in a 100km/h zone on the New England Highway between Wallangarra and Ballandean.
He reminded motorists of the reduction in speed to 60km/h at Wallangarra and 80km/h at Ballandean.
"Two of the five fines were in the 80km/h zone at Ballandean,” Sgt Baker said.
"Motorists are reminded of an increased police presence on the roads around Christmas, watch your speed and arrive safely at your destination. Stay within the limits and you won't have anything to be afraid of.”
