Southern Downs police kept busy with multiple alleged offences over Warwick Rodeo weekend

Southern Downs police have battled another week of alleged traffic and drug offending in the region, with an investigation now underway into an alleged assault that occurred in a Warwick park. Full details here.

Warwick police might have been impressed with the behaviour of patrons at this year’s rodeo, but remained busy with a spate of alleged drink or drug driving, as well as other alleged traffic offences.

DRUG OFFENDING

• A 35-year-old Warwick man and a 30-yar-old Warwick woman will appear in Warwick Magistrates Court after police searched a Dragon St residence and allegedly located a quantity of drugs, including cocaine and cannabis.

• A 59-year-old Dalveen man will also appear in Warwick Magistrates Court charged with a number of drug related offences which include possessing and producing a dangerous drug, as well as possessing drug related items after a police search of his residence.

TRAFFIC OFFENCES

• A 48-year-old Warwick woman was stopped on Dead Horse Lane at Morgan Park at around 10am on Friday, and was subject to a saliva analysis which allegedly returned a positive reading. The woman is set to appear in Warwick Magistrates Court.

• A 29-year-old Warwick man will also appear in Warwick Magistrates Court after he was stopped by police on Dragon St on Sunday and subject to a roadside drug test which allegedly returned a positive reading.

• A 25-year-old Eagleby woman was located on Freestone Rd on Friday allegedly driving with a disqualified drivers licence and will appear in Warwick Magistrates Court.

• An 18-year-old Toowoomba man was intercepted by police driving on Wood St on Saturday and was stopped for a random breath test, which allegedly returned a reading of 0.033.

The Toowoomba man was issued a notice to appear for driving while over the no alcohol limit and will appear before Warwick Magistrates Court.

• A 53-year-old Blue Mountain man will appear before Warwick Magistrates Court after he was intercepted by police on Wallace St and subject to a random breath test, allegedly returning a positive reading of 0.076.

ALLEGED ASSAULT

• Police are investigating after a woman was allegedly assaulted and had her tyres slashed in the camping area at Australiana Park overnight. No injuries were reported to have been sustained.
