Southern Downs’s top highschools for OP results have been revealed with an impressive performance seen in students across the region.

The Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority released the 2019 Year 12 results for more than 500 high schools across the state at the weekend.

The results show 33.3 per cent of students at Stanthorpe State High School, Stanthorpe, received an OP between 1 and 5, the highest proportion of high-end results in the area.

Stanthorpe State High School had a total of 13 students receive an OP between 1 and 5, out of 39 students who got an OP score.

In Warwick, Scots PGC College had the second highest proportion of high end OP scores in the Southern Downs area, with 26.3 per cent of students receiving a score between 1 and 5.

Of the 19 students who received an OP at Scots PGC College, five received a result between 1 and 5.

Former Scots student Bridie Shooter was the only recipient of an OP 1 last year.

Scots Director Mark Richardson said he’s ecstatic.

“Bridie has now gone on to UQ to study law,” he said.

“We were exceptionally happy and very proud of all their efforts, we had three more students receive OP 4 and one with a 5.”

Mr Richardson said this is the third year in a row one of their students have receive an OP 1 result.

“They’ve worked incredibly well and to have record results in the past three years, we’re ecstatic.”

The third highest proportion of students receiving OP scores between 1 and 5 was at Assumption College, where 15.8 per cent received a top end result.

There were 19 Assumption College students who received an OP score last year, with three receiving a score between one and five.

Schools with fewer than 10 students who received an OP were not included in this analysis.

The 2019 student cohort will be the last class of Queensland students to receive an OP score, with the state moving Australian Tertiary Admissions Ranks from this year – in line with other states.
