A brand new event in Warwick will feature monsters, superheroes and fantasy characters roaming the streets of the Rose City in a first for the region.
WarwicK Con will be held in April, and will let all pop culture enthusiasts express their creativity and passion for their favourite movies, games and TV shows.
Organisers say punters should “get creative and plan your costume” for the cosplay event, which will see attendees dress up and win prizes for the best dressed.
Taking place on April 10 at Warwick Town Hall, there will also be several stall holders selling all sorts of whimsical trinkets.
The brand new event is a combined effort between Headspace, Southern Downs Regional Council and local business AJ’s Place.
AJ’s Place opened in 2023, masterminded by businessman and aficionado Jeff Clark, who residents may know from being the former owner of Video Ezy and Network Video in Warwick.
Though critics may say physical media is a dying business, Mr Clark found a niche audience to attract, as well as bringing in new fans of his business through his popular Dungeons and Dragons meetups.
“There’s still a need for (physical media), especially in Warwick, where we’ve got a lot of customers that come in that don’t have proper internet if they’re just out of town and prefer the physical media- there is still a big need for it in this town,” Mr Clark said last year.
You can check out AJ’s Place at their Guy St location, or buy tickets to WarwicKCon here.
