The Clifton State School was placed into a brief lockdown today, reportedly after a student caused a disturbance and damaged property.

Police were called to the country school about 11.45am on Thursday and the matter was resolved within 30 minutes.

The lockdowns came two days after the Wilsonton State School was placed into lockdown on Tuesday.

In a letter home to parents, WSS principal Jonathan Case said the disturbance involved “parents acting inappropriately”.

“First and foremost, I want to reassure you that we always treat the safety and welfare of your children – our students – as our highest priority.”

“For privacy reasons we are very limited by what we can disclose about the incident.

However, I would like to assure you that the matter is being dealt with appropriately and with the utmost importance.

School guidance support has been offered to the affected students.

A Queensland Education spokeswoman said the Clifton lockdown was precautionary.

“The department and the school’s leadership team would like to thank staff for their

swift response to keep students and staff safe during the incident,” she said.

“Parents have been notified of the lockdown by email and students resumed normal

classes after an early lunch break.

“Guidance Officer support is available at the school for anyone who requires it.

“Any situation that threatens the safety and wellbeing of staff and students is treated

extremely seriously and dealt with as a matter of priority.”
