Accused drug traffickers released on bail

FOUR of the people arrested in an operation Southern Downs police claim smashed a meth trafficking ring in Goondiwindi have been granted bail.
Clayton Lindsay Mobbs, Bo Austin Moorcroft, Diane Smith and James Laurence Rountree-Whitmore appeared in Warwick Magistrates Court this afternoon, charged with a range of drug offences.
Police will allege the offences were committed between October 2019 and July this year.
Twenty-three-year-old Moorcroft is charged with drug trafficking, the unlawful supply of weapons, possessing anything used in the commission of a crime, possessing property suspected of being acquired for the purpose of committing a drug offence and possessing drug utensils.
Smith, 21, is charged with drug trafficking, supplying and possessing dangerous drugs, possessing anything used in the commission of a crime and possessing drugs utensils.
Mobbs, 21, is charged with trafficking and supplying dangerous drugs and possessing anything used in the commission of a crime.
Rountree-Whitmore, 21, is facing charges of drug trafficking and possessing anything used in the commission of a crime.
Detectives from the Goondiwindi, Stanthorpe and Warwick Criminal Investigation branches assisted by the Drug and Serious Crime Croup, arrested a 10 people on 52 charges, including trafficking dangerous drugs.
According to Goondiwindi CIB Michael Flood, warrants were executed for nine properties across the Goondiwindi region yesterday.
The arrests signal the end of Operation Romeo Instance which had been in effect for months.
“This was the culmination of a protracted investigation of a network involved in the trafficking of methylamphetamine within the Darling Downs and southwest areas of Queensland and often into northern New South Wales,” Detective Sgt Flood said.
Each alleged offender appeared separately in the court and was granted bail.
Magistrate Julian Noud issued an order preventing each alleged offender from contacting their co-accused and requiring them to report to a police station once a week.
Each matter was adjourned to September 1 in the Goondiwindi Magistrates Court.
