The boy accused of murdering Vyleen White at an Ipswich shopping centre car park has been indicted in Brisbane Supreme Court.
The 70-year-old grandmother was fatally stabbed in the underground car park at Redbank Plains Town Square on Saturday, February 3 last year.
It was alleged the motive for her death was the carjacking of her 2009 Hyundai Getz hatchback, which was later found approximately 20 minutes away.
A 16-year-old boy was charged with murder in the days following, and four other youths were charged with lesser offences including unlawful use of a vehicle in relation to the alleged theft of Ms White’s car.
The youth was committed for trial in March on charges of murder, unlawful use of motor vehicles aircraft use and three counts of stealing all from the same day Mrs White was killed.
Crown prosecutor Chris Cook presentenced an indictment on Wednesday containing a charge of murder.
The youth, who was not present, remains in detention. He has not yet been required to enter a plea. He turns 18 in November.
The indictment also contained three charges of stealing and unlawful use of a motor vehicle in company.
The youth, who is represented by barrister Matt Hynes instructed by Hannay Lawyers, will be arraigned in person on July 22.
