Jabs for kids to start the new year

Queensland’s vaccine mandate limiting unvaccinated residents from entering hospitality and entertainment venues has begun, with bars, restaurants and pubs limiting entry from 5am.

Staff members at these venues are required to ask all patrons aged 16 or older for proof of vaccination and to check in through the Check in Qld app.

Unvaccinated people cannot visit hospitality venues, vulnerable settings, entertainment venues or festivals.

Locals are required to present their proof of vaccination, which can be linked to the check in app, upon entry.

WHAT IF YOUR PHONE GOES FLAT, YOU DON’T HAVE A SMARTPHONE OR FORGET YOURS?

If a person does not have access to the Check in Qld App they must tell the venue staff immediately and they can record details using the business profile of the Check In Qld App.

People without access to the check in app can prove their vaccination status through a COVID-19 digital certificate or Immunisation History Statement.

IS A PAPER VACCINE CERTIFICATE ACCEPTABLE?

Printing a Covid-19 digital certificate or Immunisation history is acceptable proof of vaccination.

DO YOU HAVE TO CONNECT YOUR CERTIFICATE TO THE CHECK IN QLD APP?

While connecting a vaccination certificate to the Covid-19 check in app is simple to do and user friendly, residents can show they are vaccinated via a digital certificate.

HOW DO YOU CONNECT YOUR VACCINE CERTIFICATE TO THE APP?

Locals must ensure they have the most up to date version of the Check In Qld app on their phone.

1. Open the app and click Covid-19 digital certificate, Medicare accounts must be linked to Mygov accounts for the certificate to link to the app.

2. Click add certificate via Mygov.

3. Sign into Mygov and click proof of vaccinations.

4. Click view history.

5. Click share with check in app.

6. Click share with Check in Qld.

7. Read and conditions and click accept and share.

A green tick should then appear next to a person’s name when they open the app.

WHAT REASONS CAN A VENUE REFUSE TO ALLOW SOMEONE TO ENTER?

A venue can refuse entry to someone who is unvaccinated and does not have evidence of medical contraindication or refuses to show proof of vaccination, or refuses to check in.
