Queensland tourism operators are slashing hundreds of dollars from holiday packages with free tours, meals and other massive discounts in a bid to tempt travellers for the September holidays.

Booking numbers are already strong for the first warm weather holiday period since the COVID-19 crisis took hold, with travellers snapping up huge bargains across the state.

Other hot deals are also being offered for the period beyond the school holidays in what is traditionally one of the quietest times of year in what is already shaping as one of the quietest years on record.

In a series of deals being offered through Flight Centre, couples can save almost $500 on a week-long getaway to the Great Barrier Reef, while four nights at the Paradise Centre Apartments in Surfers Paradise offers three nights free.

Savings of hundreds of dollars are also available for offerings on Hamilton Island, the Whitsundays and Noosa.

Hamilton Island’s Reef View Hotel is also offering $150 free room credit and free meals for children.

Queensland Tourism Industry Council CEO Daniel Gschwind said with most of our traditional domestic markets prevented from entering the state, Queenslanders would be the major beneficiaries of the deals on offer.

“Millions of international and interstate travellers normally seek out Queensland destinations and now we have them all to ourselves so it is a perfect time to take up the exceptional deals out there,” he said.
