A local community is rallying around the family of a little girl who died after being found in a hot car at a rural Queensland property on New Year’s Eve.

Police have confirmed that no charges will be laid over the tragedy that happened during a family gathering at a home outside of Eungella, about 80km west of Mackay on Sunday.

The little girl was earlier identified after members of the Eungella community started a GoFundMe to assist her family.

However, after requests from the family, The Courier-Mail has opted to remove her name from this story.

The GoFundMe has also now been removed.

“This family experienced a terrible accident on New Year’s Eve which resulted in the loss of their young daughter...,” the GoFundMe read.

“We would like to show our support and raise some money to help the family during the grieving process, help with funeral expenses and the general cost of living while they navigate through the difficulties of losing a child.”

The toddler was found unresponsive in a car at a home on Bee Creek Rd about 2pm on Sunday.

The RACQ CQ Rescue Helicopter was dispatched from Mackay and paramedics performed CPR on the little girl but she could not be revived.

It is believed about half a dozen family members were in attendance when the incident occurred and several cars could be seen at the property on Sunday afternoon, alongside police vehicles.

Police at the scene on Sunday said investigations were ongoing to establish how the child got into the car, with detectives from the Mackay Child Protection and Investigation Unit declaring a crime scene at the house.

On Tuesday police confirmed no charges would be laid.

Police are preparing a report for the coroner, but are not conducting a criminal investigation.
