Business fire at Sippy Downs declared suspicious by police

A woman was struck by a car and two men were also taken to hospital following separate crashes in the Sunshine Coast region overnight.

Three people have been taken to hospital following separate emergencies in the Sunshine Coast region overnight.

A man in his 30s suffered chest injuries in an e-scooter crash on Karawatha Drive, Buderim about 1.30am Saturday.

He was taken to Sunshine Coast Univeristy Hospital in a stable condition.

At Kuluin, a woman in her 20s suffered minor injuries after being hit by a car on Daintree Court at 9.53pm Friday while a man was treated for leg pain at the scene of a crash on Connection Rd, Glenview at 10.27pm.

Both were taken to hospital in a stable condition.

Further south at Caboolture, a male in his 20s suffered a head injury in a motorcycle crash at the corner of Morayfield Road and Jacaranda Avenue about 9.30pm Friday.

He was taken to Caboolture hospital in a stable condition.

Police investigate suspicious business fire – Friday

Police have declared a crime scene following a suspicious business fire at Chancellor Village Blvd at Sippy Downs.

Multiple fire crews attended a structure fire just after noon and a Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said a crime scene had since been declared with the fire to be treated assuspicious.

A QFD spokesman said the business was fully engulfed by smoke and the fire was extinguished by 1.15pm.

Staff and people inside the business were evacuated and no one was physically injured.

Large amounts of smoke were reported to be drifting over the Sunshine Motorway with motorists are advised to drive with caution and to the conditions.

Nearby residents should close windows and doors and keep respiratory medications close by if required.

Police are appealing for witnesses in relation to the suspicious fire.

Anyone with information, or vision that could assist investigations, is urged to contact police.

Two boaties severely injured after freak wave strikes boat

Two boaties have suffered possibly life threatening injuries following a watercraft incident in the surf off Tewantin.

Paramedics rushed to assist the boat occupants after receiving the call about 1.30pm on Wednesday of the marine incident, understood to be at the Noosa Bar Crossing.

A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said it’s understood the pair were injured after their vessel hit a large wave.

The spokeswoman two patients were treated by paramedics for possibly life threatening spinal injuries, with one rushed to Sunshine Coast University Hospital while the other will be flown to hospital by helicopter.

A Queensland Police spokesman said officers were called to assist the medical incident but said the Australian Maritime Safety Authority will be the lead.

An AMSA spokesman said they were aware of the accident which involved a tourist vessel at the Noosa Bar.

“AMSA understand Queensland Ambulance Service has attended the scene,” the spokesman said.

“AMSA will be making further inquiries into the incident.”

Man rushed to hospital with horrific facial burns – Wednesday

A man has been rushed to hospital with what could be life threatening upper body and facial burns overnight following a fire.

A man in his 30s was taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital with burns to his upper body and face following a rubbish fire at Nambour.

It was off Coronation Ave and Bli Bli Road at 8.20pm.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services and Queensland Police did not attend.

A male teenager was also taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition following a single-vehicle rollover on Whitecross Road and Camp Flat Road at 5.20am, Wednesday morning, at Bli Bil.

Elderly woman rescued after crashing into ditch – Tuesday

An elderly woman who lost control driving in the rain and slid off the road into a ditch has been rescued by emergency services and rushed to hospital.

Emergency services were called to Cooroy Noosa Rd and Swift Drive at Lake Macdonald at 6am Tuesday morning following reports of a car sliding off the road in the wet weather and plummeting down an embankment into a ditch.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency spokesman said they had three crews on scene.

“The vehicle has slid five metres down an embankment,” he said.

He said she was originally trapped and needed QFES crews had to help her out of the crashed car.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said the woman, in her 70s, was taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition with no obvious injuries.
