LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

It is with satisfaction and warmth that I write this letter in support of Steve Dickson in his decision to contest the seat of Buderim in the state election due in October this year.

I am a resident of Mountain Creek and have been for over two decades, and I think during that time there have been four state members of parliament and Steve was one.

He was also my local councillor before he stood down for state politics, and now his son is my local government representative.

Both have served me conscientiously and with integrity.

At 80, I am considered by many to be many characters, and some are derogatory and bilious others say I am fair dinkum guy who does not take crap from anyone.

‘I’ve got a plan’: Ex-One Nation leader to stand again

No matter when others think of me, I protect my values and standards ferociously, and after serving in the army as an infantry soldier retiring as a Regimental Sergeant Major understand people, and their characters and values.

Steve Dickson’s only fault is he trusted others who identified him as a danger to the LNP and party politics.

The Australian and Queensland media assassinated him.

His crime was nativity and trusting.

He has personally survived and gained greater political nous and strength.

For me, a conservative voter and supporter, and after the Federal Liberal Party backed Malcolm Turnbull to assassinated his fourth or fifth opponent to achieve the Prime Ministership in 2015, I will never support the Liberal Party again in a state or federal election. Their culpability exceeds Dickson nativity.

I, therefore, am unashamed to make it public that I will be supporting Steve in the October election and wish him a very best.

Conservative ideologues taking lives

Sometimes the most compassionate expressions come from the most unlikely sources.

“Euthanasia” is an excellent and a comforting word!

I am grateful to whoever invented it. From Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

Opposition to this “comfort” substantially stems from a see-no-problem conservatism by a minority segment of our community who oppose sane generalised health services.

But today, what do we see?

We see a global health pandemic that is being addressed by difficult and sane health measures.

A small virus is heartlessly dealing out unexpected end-of-life events all around the world.

In step with heartless conservative ideologues, the pandemic is blindly taking lives.

As does the ideologues, who deal with serious life and death issues, blindly.

Clothed in inefficiencies?

Indecisive, incompetent, inexcusable, ignorant, ineffective, illiberal, indefensible, incomprehensible, inexplicable, illogical.

Has the Emperor’s Kingdom been exposed in all its naked glory by its Princess Ruby?

20 years too early

We have a Premier accused of lying.

A minister refusing to name who was responsible for the failed hotel isolation and possibly (as not yet proven) the main reason for this latest incident of COVID-19 outbreak in Victoria.

Like “it wasn’t me sir”.

NRL players and coaches breaking the rules which they are all well aware of.

Ladies and gentlemen this is not a game of who is next in “piggy in the middle” – every Australian has got to wake up to what the final result maybe.

If you expect someone to watch your back, be upfront and watch theirs.

Which will sound confusing to some who can’t see no further than their own self interest.

The warning of what would happen when the clock struck 12 on New Year’s Eve 1999 for the world because of our reliance on computers was 20 years too early and its turned out to be something far more dangerous and deadly.

Made my day

While parking my car on Mooloolaba Esplanade one morning this week, I was approached by a very attractive young man, with guitar, who asked if he could sing me a song.

Of course I agreed and he serenaded me with a lovely smile, and then walked off.

What a lovely way to start the day. Thank you mystery man!
