A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said paramedics were called to Cooinda Place in the Glass House Mountains just after 3pm on Tuesday.

She said it appeared a motorbike had collided with a bicycle leaving two people seriously injured.

A teenage boy had suffered a life-threatening head injury, she said.

The ambulance spokeswoman said a man in his 20s was taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital with a potentially life-threatening head injury.

A police spokeswoman said the teenage boy, who is understood to have been riding the bicycle, had been flown by rescue helicopter to a Brisbane hospital and the forensic crash unit remained on scene.

Police have closed Bowen Rd between Crittenden Rd and Steve Irwin Way in both directions.
