In a shock announcement, Sunshine Coast Mayor Rosanna Natoli has revealed she is separating from her councillor husband Joe Natoli after 35 years of marriage.

The Sunshine Coast mayor is separating from her councillor husband after 35 years of marriage.
In a shock announcement released through Sunshine Coast Council communication channels, Mayor Rosanna Natoli said she shared “with sadness” the split with her husband, division four Councillor Joe Natoli.
“We ask for your understanding and respect for our privacy — and especially that of our children — during this time,” she said.
“Both Joe and I would like to reassure the community that we remain steadfast in our dedication to fulfilling the commitments we have made to the people of the Sunshine Coast, through our respective roles on council.”
The pair was elected in the council elections last year.
Mr Natoli has served on the Sunshine Coast Council for consecutive terms and had served as mayor of the Maroochy shire council before amalgamation.
Ms Natoli was elected as a first-time mayor, in her first election campaign.
Prior to her election, she was a long-serving Sunshine Coast journalist.
“Personally, I remain laser-focused on my goal of being the best Mayor for the future of this region, leading with vision and resilience, and leaving a legacy of a thriving, vibrant community,” Ms Natoli said.
“Being entrusted with the role of mayor of the Sunshine Coast is a privilege and a responsibility I take seriously, and I am dedicated to fulfilling it with passion.
“Our relationship remains respectful and amicable.”
She said no further statements would be made.
“We thank you in advance for your respect and support during this time,” Ms Natoli said.
Mr Natoli has been contacted for comment.
The first council meeting for the year is on January 30.
