ARCHIE is okay.
The owners of a Groodle that was struck by a seizure at Mooloolaba Esplanade say he's on his legs again and doing fine. Brian and Brenda Abbey said they wanted to thank the local community for stopping to check whether they needed help when Archie had a seizure and collapsed.
As he lay shaking on the footpath next to the carpark, his owners cradled his head and soothed him. It had happened many times before, Brenda said, and they knew what to do.
Brian said between 40 and 50 people stopped to offer help and comfort Archie during the 20 minutes he spent splayed across the path.
Asked what Coast residents could do to help, Brenda urged animal lovers to consider adopting one of the many homeless animals at the Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge, which also accepts donations of goods and money toward the animals' care.
Many dogs are currently available for adoption including a loving Jack Russell called Jack, a young German Shepherd called Chai and Bella, a playful 5-year-old Staffy.
