Maroochydore Swans head coach Dennis Moore remains confident his team will be up for the challenge in their team’s semi-final match against Beerwah

A red-hot Maroochydore Swans outfit will look to continue their strong run of form in this weekend match-up against minor premiers Beerwah.

Off the back of the most competitive regular season in recent history, only three teams remain in the race for Sunshine Coast senior rugby league glory.

The Kawana Dolphins were able to slot a last-minute field goal which saw them defeat minor premiers Beerwah and progress straight through to the grand final on September 18.

In the other semi-final match, Maroochydore were able to get a 30-22 win over Noosa which means they meet Beerwah at 6.30pm on Saturday at the Tinonee Oval.

Maroochydore Swans head coach Dennis Moore said it will be another tightly contested match-up.

“I’m confident in the ability of my team as I think it really is just going to come down to possession and control of the footy,” he said.

“If my blokes can complete high then I’m really confident we can perform well.”

Maroochydore have met Beerwah twice previously this season, losing in round one before winning in round eight.

Moore, the former Parramatta Eels talent scout and Manly Sea Eagles assistant coach, said his players would need to be up to the challenge.

“Across the board we can’t expect any one player to drag the team out of different situations as it’s a team first concept,” he said.

“If everyone can do their job well, then I'm confident that the scoreline will reflect well for us.”

Just two points separated the top-four teams at the end of the regular season, who all snared 10 wins apiece.

Moore said his focus of week-to-week football had remained the same.

“All of those earlier matches are history now and although it’s boring as buggery it’s so important to take each match week by week,” he said.

“I’ve thought all the way through that there’s four or five teams that can win the competition on any given day.

“It just means you’ve got to be ready to play each time and that’s extremely important now given these final few games.”
