The man tasked with taking the Maroochydore Swans to A-Grade glory has revealed his belief that a massive boilover is brewing in the Sunshine Coast Rugby League grand final.

After enduring one of the tightest regular seasons in recent years the Swans and Kawana Dolphins were the last two teams standing.

A last-minute field goal launched the Dolphins straight into the grand final after toppling minor premiers Beerwah.

The Swans were able to outlast the Bulldogs in last weekend’s preliminary final with a gritty 30-24 win to book a place in the decider.

This weekend's grand final pitted the two form teams of the competition against each other at 5.30pm at Sunshine Coast Stadium on Saturday.

Swans head coach Dennis Moore remained confident in his team's ability.

“Grand finals don‘t come along too often and they’re very hard to get into, we’ve got to make it count,” he said.

“We trained really well this week and I’m confident they'll produce a good performance as they’re looking forward to the challenge.”

Maroochydore’s Lachlan Price finished the regular season as the competitions leading point scorer.

Due to the Covid-19 community sport ban the two teams had only met once this season back in round nine.

Kawana were able to beat Maroochydore 18-14 and Moore said there was an element of unknown heading into Saturday's match.

“Given we’ve only played them once it’s a bit of an unknown but we’re focusing on what we can bring to the game and hopefully that’ll be enough to get the job done,” he said.

Moore, the former Parramatta Eels talent scout and Manly Sea Eagles assistant coach, said he expected a fiery contest between the two forward packs.

“Like most big games the key will be the point of contact around the ruck and through the middle of the field,” he said.
