Next steps in Sunshine Coast Dr Petru-Emanuel Dascalita’s rape case

The next steps for a Sunshine Coast doctor charged with rape have been revealed by his lawyer in a Maroochydore court.

The next steps for a Sunshine Coast doctor charged with rape have been revealed by his lawyer in a Maroochydore court.

Glenview man Dr Petru-Emanuel Dascalita had his matter mentioned in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday morning, January 13.

Dr Dascalita, who did not appear, faces one charge of rape.

Dr Dascalita’s lawyer Ashley Knopp addressed the courtroom over the phone, outlining his intention to issue an application for a directions hearing.

“We have briefed Mr Angus Edwards of counsel and we are seeking to list the matter for a 110B direction,” Mr Knopp said.

Maroochydore Magistrate Chris Callaghan told Mr Knopp he had until January 27, 2025, to serve the police prosecutors with the direction application.

Mr Callaghan further ordered the prosecutors have until Monday, February 10 to respond.

The matter was adjourned to February 17, 2025.

Dr Dascalita is yet to enter any pleas.
