A person has been taken to hospital after a post-immersion incident on the Sunshine Coast.

Emergency services were called to Noosa Heads around 1.30pm on Sunday.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the person was assessed at the scene.

They were taken to Noosa Hospital in a stable condition.

It was the second serious incident at a Sunshine Coast beach within less than three hours after a mother and son were swept up in a flash rip at Alexandra Headland at 11am.

Quick-thinking lifeguards pulled the woman, aged in her 40s, and her son from the water.

Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics provided treatment at the scene.

Lifeguard Zac Turner urged swimmers to keep safe with dangerous conditions expected to continue for the next few days.

“With this building swell and dangerous, rough conditions we’re reminding people to swim between the flags and within their ability,” he said.

“Things can change so quickly … the ocean is a dangerous place.

“Swim between the flags and if you’re in doubt don’t go in the water or speak to a lifeguard before you do.”
