Sunshine Coast Daily weekly newspaper to launch August 27, profits to go to Wishlist

There is now another good reason why you should pick up a copy of the Sunshine Coast Daily when the new weekly print edition hits shelves.

Meet the Sunshine Coast Daily team

Mark this date.

August 27 is the day when the first weekly print edition of the Sunshine Coast Daily will hit shelves at newsagents, service stations and supermarkets.

The newspaper will once again promise to be a voice for the community and be unashamedly hyperlocal – as we have been for more than 40 years.

And, even better, the profits of the sales of the first edition on August 27 will go to Wishlist.

The move is another way for us to show how important it is to give back to the community.

The charity aims to raise $2m to support its $14m Wishlist Centre to be built at Birtinya.

The facility will help patients and their families needing ongoing treatment at the nearby Sunshine Coast University Hospital and the private hospital.

From Monday, we will launch our Five Reasons Why series to shed the light on the devastating effects mental health is having on Sunshine Coast’s youngest residents.

The series was inspired by the successful US TV series 13 Reasons Why, which puts the spotlight on youth suicide.

The issue is becoming increasingly prevalent for Wishlist teams.

By buying the newspaper on Friday, you will help raise much-needed funds for the Wishlist Centre.

The launch of the new Friday edition is an exciting time for the Sunshine Coast Daily team and the wider community.

It’s a reinvestment into our community that would not have been possible without the ongoing and growing support for our online stories and local journalists.

The edition will give our communities a running start to the weekend, correlating the best news content of the week into one publication and discussing the big topics of the week.

It will include all the popular print stalwarts, such as puzzles, obituaries, a TV guide, letters, local sport and news.

But we also won’t be afraid to do things a little differently.

The Friday edition will be the perfect extension to our online news published 24/7 on sunshinecoastdaily.com.au.

Your digital subscription gives you access to the news as it happens, and changes to the website have no doubt improved your reader experience.

And for our readers who can’t get enough of news in print, they can catch up on our stories every weekday in the Courier Mail’s regional Sunshine Coast edition.

Exciting times!

As always, we’re looking forward to your feedback at nadja.fleet@news.com.au.
