An act of environmental kindness has captured the attention of the Noosa community, thanks to a post shared on a local Facebook page.
Bianca Pascoe’s post on the Noosa Community Notice Board page featured a photo and video of a man walking along the beach with a bucket full of rubbish.
“This morning, while walking along the beach, I witnessed a man quietly filling up his bucket with rubbish he collected from the shoreline,” Ms Pascoe wrote.
“Watching his thoughtful actions made me pause and reflect on the incredible difference one person can make for our community and environment.”
She extended her gratitude to the unnamed man, calling him an “unsung hero”.
“Thank you for your kindness and dedication to keeping our beach clean and beautiful for everyone to enjoy. Your efforts don’t go unnoticed, and they inspire others to take pride in our shared spaces,” she said.
The post quickly garnered over 1000 likes and an outpouring of appreciation from the community, with one local describing the man as “a true legend”.
Local resident Sarah Humpston identified the man as her neighbour.
“This is my wonderful neighbour; he is down at the beach collecting rubbish every morning … his wife has seen this post and loves it!” she commented.
Others praised the initiative, encouraging everyone to adopt similar habits.
“The old adage is paramount when visiting the beach … leave nothing but footprints,” wrote Melissa Williams.
“Thankfully, we have caring, nature-loving humans who clean up after the grubby humans who leave a mess.”
The organisation Ten Little Pieces, which promotes environmental education and sustainability, also shared the post on its own Facebook page.
“This chap won our hearts today! Every little piece makes a difference,” they said.
Founded by Alison Foley, Ten Little Pieces encourages people to pick up ten pieces of litter wherever they are, helping to build a global culture of caring for the environment.
Other residents also highlighted the collective efforts of local walkers, dog owners, and beachgoers who regularly pick up litter to preserve Noosa’s natural beauty.
“Now this is what a community page is all about! Respect to the man, to Bianca Pascoe, and the 560+ community that liked this post,” local resident Dani Collins said.
