Two new indoor sporting ventures are planned for a Coast industrial estate where the region’s only dedicated basketball training facility is already taking shape.
Plans submitted to the Sunshine Coast Council in late October showed designs for a swim school and rock climbing space in a multi-tenancy industrial shed at Forest Glen.
Unique basketball training hub bounced around
The site at Cedarbrook Dr is owned by Mooloolaba man Gary Crick’s company G8C Pty Ltd.
Warana resident Kymberlee Clift’s company proposed the 916sq m swim school and
Amuse Australia Pty Ltd, directed by Valdora man David Jonathan Wright, proposed the 1016sq m rock climbing business.
The company is a supplier of amusement machines like billiard and pool tables, boxing machines and koala kranes.
According to the town planning report, the rock-climbing facility will include a main bouldering court area, training wall, office and reception area.
It is anticipated to operate from 9am to 10pm seven-days-a-week.
Kids classes are proposed for set times on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.
The swim school will have four pools, a play area, a multipurpose room, a creche and other amenities.
Learn to swim classes will be its primary service, with development squad classes, school swimming lessons and certification courses.
It comes more than a month after high performance basketball skills development company, Pride Performance, was approved for a new training hub nearby in late September.
The facility included a small wooden basketball court, a warm-up area and two shooting stations across 506sq m.
Sunshine Coast Phoenix NBL1 men’s team member Josh Walters said an opening date was in sight.
